bike1On arrival at BALAM HA, guests are supplied with "cruiser" bikes selected specially for comfort. The bike ride will be on smooth well constructed and maintained farm roads winding through estate orchards of exotic tropical fruits and assorted citrus, arriving at the foot of the karst hills.

There the bike route enters into virgin rainforest snaking between hills until it reaches Monkey Creek, the home of a local troupe of howler monkeys. From Monkey Creek you start your hike to the Xibun Cave. The cave access trail navigates its way around a karst hill through pristine mature broadleaf forest on terrace land overlooking Monkey Creek and the edge of the Sibun floodplain.

The cave tour will not only highlight the natural features but also the importance of the caves to ancient Xibun Maya who frequented them. After the cave tour, you will be picked up near the Monkey Creek Outpost and driven back to BALAM HA where they may choose to refresh themselves with a dip in the river before lunching on Belizean Bar-B-Q and fresh juice of the day. Participants must be at least 12 years in reasonable biking and hiking condition.

Includes: Transportation, equipment, lunch and sodas.

Duration: 6 hours.
